POEM 216: For Mabel Anyatonwu, on her birthday
as I face life's challenges and go about my day
my sister, my mother's daughter sends love my way.

as days turns into nights and I lay down to rest
my sister, my mother's daughter prays the sun sets sail.

as I brush through bushy terrains in search of this and that
my sister, my mother's daughter ear-marks my track

while I painted pictures with pencil and crayons
my sister, my mother's daughter taught how to paint with words

while I play with words and brew more poems
my sister, my mother's daughter takes the compliment

harpy birthday, sister mine
may the music never cry
