POEM 132: WHAT DADDY TOLD ME
So I sat my boy butt
on cozy grasses
eyes fixed on daddy's broken eyeglasses.
His voice came in shutters
click, clank, click, clank
he captured every scene
the characters came to life
in the monochrome of his baritone.
Daddy sighed,
and then...
Tales of denial of rights
Tales of tears and drought and tares
Tales of betrayals
Tales of identity crisis
...and more of shattered dreams.
Daddy sighed,
again..
His shoulder fell like a withered leaf
and so did his head on my face.
Daddy smiled,
and said...
'Without crossing worst situations,
no one can touch the best corner of life, son'
I didn't understand
but now, I do.
