POEM 97: GOODBYE IS A PROMISE I'LL NEVER KEEP
It climbed down her cheeks
on a lame girl's wobbly feet:
Trails of tears.
Her lips made to part.
Her lips trembled,
but words were stuck in her heart
I walked away,
her sobs in my head
It echoed and reechoed as I ran away.
I ran away to explode the rage
But on return
She'd shut the door.
If only she knew that goodbye
Is a promise I'll never keep,
she'd have noticed I left my heart behind.
