POEM 310: NOT A 'THANK YOU' NOTE, BUT A LOVE LETTER

"don't give in to giving up"- mum

"God wants you to understand
that he understands"- dad

and yesterday, I saw new reasons
to trust those sayings.

I haven't been on earth too long
nor have I achieved so much

but the deluge of love that struck yesterday,
brought me to tears, like they would say.

it was overwhelming
you are all amazing

I haven't written masterpieces -
no, not one

but your accolades and epistles
overpoweringly, counters verse seven

I may not reply all,
nor come adulating on your wall,

but

know I noticed you,
I recognized you,
and I appreciate, a heartful
the words you served like sweet stew.

know I love you
I celebrate you
...to say the least,

I am honored
and will always be reciprocal

accept my bouquet of gratitude

- with love, me.
