POEM 282: GIRL CHILD (for the international day of the girl child)

to star on her hero stages
other than scar her beautiful

what sin is it?

to wish our girls
what I wish our boys

what sin is it?

to sing same solemn songs to her,
which we whisper to our boys

what sin is it?

to pray the sun into her moon
and equal her pink with our blue

what sin is it?

to remind our boys
she's human before a girl

what sin is it?

to enhance her voice
and not shadow her existence

what sin is it?
