POEM 177: OSAHERME

Osaherme, if you were a tale
I'll pass you down generations after me
and out of you make a legend.

Osaherme, if you were a deity
I'll raise an altar in my Father's house
and become your everlasting High Priest.

Osaherme, if you were a philosophy,
I'll tell you what an awakening it was to love you.

Osaherme, if we hadn't sang the goodbye song,
I would've suckle on your tongue
and ever lisp about your love.

Osaherme, if I come knocking on your door
will you play dead or open up?
