The lazy man's mantra: 'I can...but I won't

POEM 109: THE DISCUSS

Pessimist:
I love being tortured,
I love the anguish.
I know no pains...
I love hate but I'm peaceful.

Voice of Reason:
Beginnings are always scary
Blurry, unknown and atimes funny.
Endings are usually sad,
but it's the middle that counts.

Pessimist:
I know, epic lines...
I hate this depression;
But the future ahead give me concern,
For a reason I really can't discern,
A fear resides in me. I don't understand;
They make me sick, your punchlines!

Voice of Reason:
You just have to give hope
a chance to float up.
Listen silently, your inner echo
Man up!
Pull your tired frame up!

Pessimist:
But I love the anguish,
look, the showers of sympathy
everyone seem to love me.
This pity party I can't relinquish
for illusions I can't even see.

Voice of Reason:
You just have to give hope
a chance to float up...
you're sinking in a sea of guilt.

Pessimist:
I love this mud,
it's cool.
I'm making progress

Voice of Reason:
You're matching on the spot.
You just have to give hope
a chance to float up.

Pessimist:
I can...but I won't...
I will...try
but only when the fountain of sympathy runs dry.
