POEM 59: I WAS THERE ALL THE TIME
It's been a while,
oh daughter of lights
You've been searching for peace
in some void.
Woods with the hunter forest boy
Desert with a peasant Arabian boy
Glaciers with a savage Eskimo
You've searched in seasons harsh
You've searched in seasons mild
Nothing found
Void still spans...
But I was there all the time
Waiting in line.
Then and now,
oh Lady of lights
You've been trying to blame all your ills
on this crazy world you're in.
Groans for moans
Forced smiles and honest cries.
Selfish, your desires are
Surface deep, your eyes are
Searching in shallow highs
Treasures that layers below hides.
Nothing found
Void still spans...
But I was there all the time
Waiting in line.
See how pale you look
Oh lady of lights
You've been used
And taken for a ride
These tears that now crawl
From your eyes to my eardrum
Would've ne'er break you
If only you knew
I was there all the time
Waiting in line.
Patiently
Silently
I prayed you take your eyes off the broad way
And glance, even it be a few seconds while,
At my little twinkling ray.
Pain don't look good on you
And the gloom you hide behind a beaming hue
Whilst staring at fading rainbow ends
Would've ne'er punctuate your life tale
If only you knew
I was there all the time
Waiting in line.
